Come on ladies, what happened to being choosy?
Her father was considered one of the best teachers in Nairobi. Even though he loved his tipple, many parents had faith in him. I never saw him sober and I used to wonder how or why parents, some of whom despised people who were perpetually drunk, considered him the best. My father was one of those people who liked him. My uncle too did not mind him. So, during the holidays, when other boys were running around, I would be sent to his house for private tuition. This is not about the teacher. It is about food, and his daughter.
Winnie, that is her name, used to attend one of those Nairobi high schools that modern-day media personalities refer to as prestigious. Her dad would teach me for a short while then give me an assignment and dash out, and he would not come back sober.
The Kenyan woman is increasingly becoming like the married Kenyan man who eats not what he wants, but what he gets or is given. I have nothing against women or food. I love food, and cooking and women, so much that I cannot let a woman sweat it out in the kitchen or pick at her food. Even then, ladies, you should consider being choosy when it comes to food. You do not have to eat everything as if the world is coming to an end. Remember, you are what you eat.
