Girlfriend ‘kept in dog crate for months’
Frank Deodulo Guerra allegedly kept girlfriend in dog crate for months
A 22-YEAR-OLD man allegedly kept his girlfriend in a dog crate for five months, subjecting her to beatings and smearing her with dog poo.
The Modesto Bee reports that Frank Deodulo Guerra of California has pleaded not guilty to a range of charges including kidnapping, domestic violence and torture.
It is claimed that from September 20 last year until January this year, Mr Guerra kept the woman in a 76cm x 121 cm dog cage that was just 81 cms high while he went to work.
She was forced to urinate in a dog bowl and he allegedly smeared her face with dog poo.
“(Guerra) bit her on the back and she’ll have permanent scarring,” Deputy District Attorney Beth DeJong told Judge Ruben Villalobos. “He locked her in a dog crate. (Sometimes) he pushed her to the ground and kicked her until she’d go inside.”
The woman finally escaped January 4, but didn’t report the crimes until last week.
She told police he had threatened to text naked pictures of her on social media.
“He literally had it in my heart that I deserved everything,” the woman told police. “That I’m worthless, that I have nobody.”
DeJong recited a message said to be from Guerra.
“I know what I (expletive) did to you,”she read. “Putting you in a cage, (expletive) biting you ... Not (expletive) trusting you ...”
Guerra is due back in court later this week.
